Songsalive! is a non profit public benefit corporation (under 501(c)(3) in California U.S.A, and a not for profit organization in N.S.W Australia - dedicated to the nurturing, support and promotion of songwriters and composers worldwide. 

Revenue

All our sources of financial support are generated from us – i.e we produce events, workshops, newsletters, conferences, a webcast online (like a tv show) and cd samplers (promotional compilations) and promote membership that all create financial revenue. See Programs. About 40% of our services, however, are provided free of charge to non-members and public (e.g our events and showcases)

Current Activities

  Our Team/Committee is made up of approximately 30 volunteers spread across the United States, with the majority in Los Angeles, CA. No one takes a salary or wage. Songsalive! is run by songwriters for songwriters and the team work in their spare time to help deliver our programs and services and actively promote to encourage membership.  Notwithstanding, we have a lot of free opportunities and events that do not require membership. Our purpose is to create a strong songwriters community, beyond any financial return. If we can cover our costs through membership and event admissions, then we are happy. It’s a very altruistic vision. More about Songsalive!

Membership promotion: Our Volunteer team actively pursues membership which is promoted at events and online. Promotion of our songwriter services is the biggest part of our workload.

Event production and promotion: Showcase music and support our Songsalive! national and international live events and showcases presenting songwriters and artists of original music. Songsalive! also connects you to shows presented by other organizations. Showcases are conducted globally. Songsalive! Showcases are a very cosy, intimate and acoustic environment where media and music industry representatives often drop by to check out the latest talent. Critique Workshops are also provided first Sunday of the Month. We also run the Songsalive! Expo – a music conference every second year, as well as various seminars and programs along the way. Songsalive! Expo: Every second year we produce the Songsalive! Expo in Los Angeles with over 1000 attendees bringing the art and business of songwriting together. The Expo includes panel discussions, workshops, exhibition booths and artist showcases all for the purpose of songwriting and music education, business networking and community creating. Volunteer basis. We have around 100 volunteers who help us put this on. Our inaugural Expo was Sept 2002 and we are planning another in 2004.

Songsalive! CD Sampler. – promotional compilation: The Songsalive! Cd Sampler series is the cost effective and exclusive medium for you to reach the music industry worldwide, reaching the hands of publishers, record companies, music festivals, trade shows, artists, producers, radio, press and managers. It’s all about the songwriter and the song… This Sampler showcases SONGWRITERS. By placing a song or even two on our Cd Sampler, your music gets heard by a huge network of music industry people waiting for "that next hit song." Your contacts are on the cover, so you get the call direct, you own the copyright and Songsalive! does not take commission nor share of publishing, i.e., any interested party wanting to find out more about the song placed, or the writer, will be able to contact them direct without going through Songsalive! You also get free Songsalive! membership for one year and free promotion on our Songsalive! web site http://www.songsalive.org as well as on our mp3 site where all tracks from the Cd Sampler will be listed.  We produce a promotional CD Sampler every two years. Each Cd has about 20-25 songs representing our Songsalive! Members.

Songsalive! General Business: We're busy little beavers at Songsalive!: Promoting our events, showcases and workshops; Membership database management, administrative duties, mailings, office supplies, correspondence in and out (we get a lot of correspondence in!), customer service, CD artist submissions listening and filing, support office for members to ask questions and receive resources

Fundraising Programs:

At this point in time, Songsalive! is not carrying out any fundraising activities at this time. All of our revenue is generated through programs and events and membership we organize. Our Sponsors provide a promotional vehicle to assist us in supporting and promoting our songwriters. We have the occasional monetary sponsorship which helps us cover costs. Any promotional campaigns we do are directly related to driving in songwriter and composer memberships and directed at the public to attend our events.
