BIO
Jamey Geston (14) is singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist musician who plays guitar; acoustic/electric/bass, ukulele, mandolin and piano. Her music has an organic mix of indie, in a folksy beat, and flavored with pinch of acoustic pop. Performing most of her life, she started singing publicly at age four and playing guitar at age eight. She has performed at festivals, special charity events and showcases from Santa Barbara County to San Diego County to Arizona.

At the age of twelve she was one of six young singer/songwriters invited to Phoenix, Arizona to open for iconic folk singer, Melanie Safka (Brand New Key). She was honored to be asked by Durango Songwriters Group to join the stage with this talented group of young songwriters and gave her validation to her music direction. Meeting Melanie, she said "I thought it was really cool because it showed me how someone could still be passionate about their music even with age. This was an a turning point for her and she felt she found her voice direction and style of music, from this experience.

She started songwriting at eleven and has polished her writing skills and playing technique and continues to write and work on her music with both guitar and piano. In fall 2012, she was a finalist in Zoey's "Ones to Watch" Emerging Singer/Songwriter. Advancing to the finals made her the youngest contestant in the history of the 3 year competition. Zoey's Cafe in Ventura hosts a singer/songwriter competition in an open mic forum in front of industry judges. She commented, “Being in the finals means a lot to me, that people actually care about my music enough to put me through to the finals.” The Judges gave great feedback to her:

"You are very old soul in a young person body and I can related to that. You’ve got the gift, "Both songs have a good vibe and great songwriting. I think you are equally talented on both instruments (guitar and piano).
─ Shawn Jones Record Producer, Singer, Songwriter, Musician,

I like your unique sound, when I've judge these contest in the past, if you close your eyes and say wow that’s really different and cool, they are the ones that get into the finals. I am very impressed, you will have a bright future.
─ Randall Richman, Record Producer, Composer, Songwriter, Musician

"You have such a cool sound, maybe an indie Keisha or maybe like Avril Lavigne only new, and that’s so cool. I think it’s a good thing that no one really knows what your sounds is like.
─ Angel Taylor, Pop-Singer, Songwriter, "VH1’s "You Oughta Know: Artists On The Rise" in 2010

Jamey’s a self-described indie folksy sound influenced by artists like Taylor Swift, Ingrid Michelson, Colbie Caillat, and when asked “is there someone who people are always comparing you to?” she answered: "I get a lot of Joni Mitchell, but have also been compared to the music style of Regina Spektor, Laura Nyro and maybe a little Rickie Lee Jones." Other music influences are Elle Goulding, Bon Iver, NeverShoutNever, Edward Sheeran, Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, and Foster The People.

As a local favorite she continues to do a mix of covers and original material every chance she gets, charming her growing audience and knowing what it takes to draw a crowd. At the present she is spending time in the studio working on her originals with Producer/Musician, Carl Graves, (Oingo Boingo) and amazing team of talented of musicians, sound engineers from Los Angeles. Jamey is a member of S.A.G., ASCAP, Durango Songwriters Group, and is an artist endorsement with Daisy Rock Girl Guitars and Steve Clayton Inc Picks and Accessories.
