Songsalive! holds workshops where songwriters gather to share their songs, gain feedback and develop relationships within the songwriting communities we have created around the world.

Venue: Cahuenga General Store

5510 Cahuenga Blvd,
North Hollywood, CA
(Just north of Magnolia and Chandler, on East side of street)

TIME:  Starts 12:00pm SHARP. Ends at 3pm. Please be on time.

COST: Free for Pro-Members. $10 for non-members/basic. We ask that attendees also order lunch to sustain our new cafe venue.

RSVP:  is MANDATORY in order to present a song. RSVP your attendance at least 24 hours before Workshop time and day, on our Events page or on our MEETUP group.

WORKSHOP RULES AND WHAT TO BRING
1. Members and Non-Members can attend the Workshop, however, ONLY Songsalive! Pro-Members can present their song for critique or pitch.
2. First timers (whether Member or Non-Member) may only watch/audit the workshop (not present a song), but can participate in question/answer segment.
3. Song presenters for critique/pitch must
a)  Bring at least 30 typed copies of your lyric sheet (with full contact details)
b) bring your song on CD or iPOD or perform live (bring your instrument - unplugged/no P.A). All CD's must be burned to work on a CD Player. Please check the CD first - if it won't play in your car CD then it won't work at the workshop.
c) have CD labeled with track number / and instruments tuned and ready.                              

4. All those wishing to register for the Song Critique are taken in the order that they arrive at the venue the day of the Workshop. We can only get 10 songs confirmed for the session, any others will be on a wait list if we have the time will will try to fit those in.

MIKE V - Media Coordinator

With his blues inflected vocals and percussive guitar Mike V has performed in venues throughout Southern California.  Performing "Classic Rock with a Twist" Mike plays original songs with some cool classic rock covers thrown in the mix.  Mike V's original songs tell stories that reflect real life and real emotions from family man's view of the world.  Mike V has been a performing musician for over 20 years performing both as a solo artist and a member of the band Narrow Crossing.  Mike currently hosts the South Bay Songwriters Roundtable and is currently working on his first CD.  As a volunteer for Songsalive! Mike co-hosts the Songsalive! monthly Los Angeles Songwriters Showcase.  Mike is also a member of the Kings Harbor Church worship team..  Originally from Long Island, New York, Mike moved to Southern California in 1980, because of the weather of course.  J  He’s been married to his wife Ann for over 30 years.  They have two boys Chris and Steven, both of whom are budding musicians, Chris - Guitar, Steven – Bass.

JIMI YAMAGISHI - Community Manager

Industry awareness and relationships of Songsalive! through events and promotions. With over a quarter century in the industry, Jimi is also the current head of the SongNet, a Pasadena CA. based songwriter's org. As a writer & producer, much of his work can be found all over the world. He's a guest columnist in several publications & is known to network with everything & anyone connected to songwriting. An accomplished guitarist, Jimi builds most of his own instruments, & previously owned one of the more highly respected guitar shops in Hollywood. "A smile & a handshake are your most important assets in any business." When you meet him, you'll know why.

JESSICA AKINTUNDE
Workshop assistant

Jessica is a Graduate of Mount St. Mary's College majoring in both Sociology (with an Emphasis in Family Relations) & Film/Social Justice and has begun her Masters in Social Work at USC. Jessica lives in Los Angeles and in her spare time loves to catch a show/concert at different Los Angeles venues, her favorite being the KeyClub. Jessica is an awesome workshop helper and brings it ON all the time, and hopes to one day work at a record label or film studio.
