DAY JAMS, A division of NATIONAL MUSIC WORKSHOP (NATIONAL GUITAR WORKSHOP), through a day camp, provides safe, encouraging, friendly, and fun environments for nurturing creativity and music appreciation for
youths 8 to 15 years old. Instructors guide students through a cooperative, team-oriented process of writing, rehearsing and performing in a musical and artistic atmosphere, while assisting each student in gaining a sense of
achievement, self-confidence and self-esteem, enhance performance skills and build character.

We are looking for Counselors
for our upcoming Day Jams Pasadena Summer Camp in Pasadena (dates and location
below)
Please do not respond if you only want to teach an instrument.
DAY JAMS is a rock music camp created for campers 8-15 years old.
COUNSELING POSITIONS (Several available)
The camp offers counselors the opportunity to assist students in every aspect of
the camp. You will learn by working along side professional musicians that have
toured the world while they guide students through weekly activities, including:
learning music techniques in instrument classes, playing in a rock band, a live
performance, band related artwork, recreation time, clinics and songwriting.
Great experience for your resume!!
Please note this is not a teaching position, but a counselor position, where you
are involved in helping the teachers, as well as the bands in their
songwriting/band process. Also, various camp duties such as lunches, helping the
director, recreation and art help. You will have 1 band (of youth) with you for
the week. This is a very cool job and rewarding when you see your kids on stage
at the end of the week!
LOTS of fun and you meet great people. Music background and teaching/camp
experience preferred, but not essential.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:
*Musician, or music student, playing one or more of the following instruments:
guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, voice.
*Teaching or counseling experience optional, but a plus.
*Music Education Major or Performance Major
*Must be excellent working with beginner students.
COMPENSATION:
First year counselors: $255.00 per week for 2 weeks. (If you've worked with us
before there is a pay raise)

You would need to be available:
1. Sunday April 13 – open house at the school 12-3pm (voluntary. Meet everyone.
Jam. Help out)
2. If you're new to Day Jams, a training day
around mid June, for 3 hours.
3. Sunday July 27th load in day – 3 hours
4. 2 weeks of camp, dates above, 9am – 5pm or 8am to 4pm depending on
schedule adjustment
5. Last day of camp, Fri Aug 8 goes till 8pm as we
load out.

DAYJAMS, a division of NATIONAL GUITAR WORKSHOP, is a rock music DAYTIME summer
camp created for 8-15 years old. We teach guitar, bass, drums, keyboards,
vocals and this year, for the first time, horns (trumpet, sax, trombone). You
get to write a song in a band, rehearse it twice daily, and perform it to family
and friends on the Friday of camp. You also get a recording of their song. Plus
you have intensive instrument classes with rock star teachers who are experts in
the instrument, and who have played in bands, toured, released albums, you name
it. They've done it. During the week you also do recreation (team building) and
music art (such as cd covers, posters, tshirts) and it's a fun way to spend a
week or two in the summer. You get to experience playing in a rock band!
