Songsalive! Promotional ideas for coordinators

Contacts:     Head office email               Online Help email

* Create a press release (Showcase template here / Workshop template here). Most of you do this as part of routine, but just a reminder!

* Send to HQ for approval !!! before promoting. Email it to Gilli at gilli@songsalive.org
Only if it’s your first time.
If you are a regular event coordinator, go to step 1.

* Spread the word,.... as follows. Send your press release out for several weeks leading up to your event.

1. EVERY MONTH Send to Dave at online@songsalive.org – at least 1 week before the event, so we can send out to our new Master Email list (just to your region). This is the FIRST priority

2. Send to contacts you know, including songwriters, music industry reps, fans of music and local media.

3. Send to our discussion list eNotes. 4500+ songwriters from around the world. Email songsalive@yahoogroups.com. This is moderated and distributed (released) every Monday night. Your press release can be sent there any time during the week, but note the release day. We suggest sending this for about 3 weeks leading up to your event. (i.e 3 Mondays).
If you are not subscribed to eNotes, send a blank email to songsalive-subscribe@yahoogroups.com, or go to www.songsalive.org/community to subscribe, then you can Post.

4.
send to other lists, yahoogroups, and online PR groups. Need help? I have media and group listings. Just email me at gilli@songsalive.org

5.  Use your
Myspace page blogs and bulletins - If you have a Songsalive! MySpace page, be sure to spread the word. If you'd like a Myspace page for your chapter, email Dave at online@songsalive.org and Download this Songsalive! MySpace set up page.

 Other tips

We suggest you send us a list of emails you have on file, also, to add to our master email list so they get the press release when we send it out. We do not share the emails with any third party. It's just to promote your event. Click here for details.

Be up to date with what Songsalive! is about. You can read about us here, or click on the file below to download a doc.

* Make sure
our website is up to date with your event. www.songsalive.org/chapters and click on your city. Make sure we've listed your event properly on the calendar www.songsalive.org/calendar Email Gilli with any additions or changes.

7.  Check
the calendar is up to date. Go to www.songsalive.org/calendar and remind yourselves of the events so you can be prepared, support and uplift. Make sure the calendar is accurate, and if not, email Online Help to change it. Your event should also be on our eNotes calendar (different to what you see on the website, but it's mirrored from the web calendar). We have it set to remind the eNotes subscribers 3 days before your events. If your event is recurring (eg last sundays), we will have set that up for you in advance. The calendar reminders do not show artist names. Just generic info for each month that is the same. You need to send your press release to eNotes to be accurate.
