Songsalive!® is the largest international non-profit organization (public benefit charity) dedicated to nurturing, support, education and promotion of songwriters and composers worldwide*. Since 1997, Songsalive! is run by volunteer songwriters for songwriters. Through our grassroots international efforts, we’ve put a stamp on what “global community” truly is and it’s the type of community that is definitely needed in this ever changing music business where songwriting can be a very isolating experience and career.

We provide a "home", a family, for songwriters and composers through our programs, resources, community and support, all focused on the art and business of songwriting. It acts as an epicenter, a heart of the international songwriting community and music markets, bridging the gaps, tapping songwriters into the pulse of the business and at the same time giving them and their music the support they deserve. Through Songsalive!, songs and songwriters can be accessed by the whole world and when the hunt is on, Songsalive! is a one-stop song shop!

Songsalive! gives life to songs, provides opportunities for collaboration, creates awareness about original music, promotes and educates through an amazing network of programs providing access between songwriters and music business professionals. Publishing companies, record companies, venues, managers, producers, schools, the wider media and music associations are always teaming up with us to create the chain of support and networking.

We run our own programs, support, and events for songwriters and composers, and also act as an umbrella, or a link in the chain, for songwriters to know and find out other events, resources and support centers for them, globally.

Our Programs start with the core songwriting Critique Workshops (featuring special music industry guest speakers); and performance Showcases (to provide a platform of members' original music to be heard); We also provide Songcamps (co-writing retreats); Songcollab (providing opportunities for songwriters from different nations to colloborate and network); and Songstudio (educational workshops on recording plus access to studios & producers).

Online programs include Online Song critiques; CD Sampler compilations (promoting songs to the music industry and media); Songsalive! Get Promoted (promoted on our website with a CD Review, interview and Member of the Month feature); Community Forums (a series of forums for members to interact online and find opportunities, including Songshop (song pitches to film, TV and whoever is looking for a hit song) and Gigs & Jobs Forum.  We also offer a Partner Directory - a wide selection of opportunities and discounts from our Partners on resources, online services, promotion, distribution, Film and Television licensing and so much more; and Knowledge Wiki - an ever expanding knowledge center that is comprised of Articles, Downloads and Resources for our songwriters, by our songwriters. The most recent Program addition is our new online Social Network, integrated seamlessly into our website for all members to interact, share, collaborate and exchange.

Since 2010 we have also rolled out the Songsalive! Songwriter Of The Year Award - showcasing and honoring one (1) songwriter of the year for their outstanding achievements. Soon, we plan to roll out several music programs working with inner city at-risk youth and school programs.

Co-founded by Gilli Moon and Roxanne Kiely, Songsalive! was officially launched on June 4, 1997 in Sydney, Australia, as a voluntary not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the nurturing, support, promotion and exposure of Australian songwriters to the world’s music markets. Since its beginnings, Songsalive! has been run by songwriters for songwriters, acting as an epicentre, a heart, of the songwriting business in Australia and bridges the gaps between national and international songwriting opportunities.

The success of the organization in Australia led Gilli Moon to take the Songsalive! concept to the United States in 1999 where she built an International volunteer team and resulting in a string of chapters through the U.S.A (LA, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Seattle, Phoenix, Austin, Canada (Calgary, Vancouver) and Europe (Amsterdam, London). Meanwhile, Roxanne Kiely continued to lead the Australian chapters under her fine direction.

One of the driving events behind Songsalive!'s International success was Gilli Moon's Songsalive! Expo in 2002, (co-produced with Jimi Yamagishi and Paul Lawrence Moyer) at UCLA, Los Angeles, attracting 1000 songwriters and music industry representatives together over a packed 2 day weekend of songwriting panels, workshops, exhibitions, showcases and a songcamp.

In 2007, Gilli was invited to speak by Koda to a group of elite songwriters and songwriting clubs in Denmark, from which inspired a chapter in Scandinavia; as well as her motivational speaking at music conferences (she is also an artist, songwriter, author and speaker), brought new Chapter start up interest from even further global reaches: Papua New Guinea, Toronto CA and South Africa (currently in development).

* In May 2011, Songsalive! Australia, a new autonomous organization, under Roxanne Kiely's and Stephen Kiely's direction was created, to cater exclusively to the Australian market. Songsalive! will continue to cater to the benefit of Australian songwriters traveling or wishing to pursue their music careers abroad, through specialized programs we can offer them but are encouraged to join the new Songsalive! Australia.

Songsalive! continues to be overseen by Gilli Moon as President, with day to day operations led by David Harvey, Executive Director, and his dynamic and hard working volunteer team spread across the USA, Canada and Europe, including Mary Lemanski, Communications Director.
